Is that Alex Martelli speaking?

Earlier today I was watching Seth Godin’s presentation at Google (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6909078385965257294) - entertaining and enlightening btw.
At the Q-A at the end (aprox. @ 41:05) I thought I could recognize Alex Martelli’s voice asking a question.
There are thousands of people working at Google, I guess there must be other baritones there beside him. But, after answering the question Seth said ‘thank you Alex’.
Of course it could still be another guy named Alex with a subtle Bolognian accent - anyway it’s nice to be reminded that people like Martelli are working for Google.

Hey Ronald, are you able to detect a bolognian accent?! Cool! ;-) I’m just 100km from Bologna.

IIRC I also noticed you love “Commissario Montalbano” [1]… it seems you’re half italian! :D

    Ciao!

Hi Michele, my grandfather was from Italy ( Traverso from Genova ) that’s why I have a soft spot for Italian culture.
I should have added a smily right beside my bolognian accent comment- Truth is, I’m very bad at placing accents, just happen to know that Alex come from that area =).
I’m a sucker for crime novels, traditionally the Brits had made the best tv adaptations. Montalbano was not only as good at any British production, but due to it’s warmth much better IMO.

Cool, so you have italian origins somehow! ;-)

Yep, Cammilleri is a great writer and the TV adaption is interpreted by one of the best italian actors IMHO (Luca Zingaretti).

Heh, yes, it was me — sorry for the delay in responding, but I just noticed this blog entry! I enjoyed Seth’s presentation a lot — and I find it wonderful that Google offers talks from such a range of book authors and other speakers, not just on technical issues but also marketing, economics, policy, … it really gives one a chance to broaden one’s mind!
